Ray's Of Light with a twist

Intermediate - die cutting, dry embossing, layering, stamping

Materials required for this card are:

Card Stock: basic white
Dies: *christmas trimmings, *labels aglow
Embossing Folders: *stripes & splatters 3D
Ink: balmy blue, flirty flamingo, lemon lolly
Stamps: *color & contour, *rays of light, simply said
Accessories: bakers twine 3 color pack, *metallic enamel shapes

  1. Start with a base card 12.5 x 25 scored at 12.5, layer 12 x 12, off cut for sentiment and stars
  2. stamp the layer using the splatters from c&c, then dry emboss (this has to be done with 2 passes through the die cutting machine)
  3. stamp the sentiment and die cut, this again needs 2 passes through the die cutting machine
  4. die cut the stars
  5. ink up the rays of light and stamp each of the stars
  6. wrap the bakers twine round the layer and attach at the back using tape
  7. attach the layer to the base card
  8. line each of the stars to the appropriate line and attach using dimensional pads
  9. attach the sentiment using dimensional pads
  10. add the metallic shapes

Faux Leather meets Color Contour

Happy 3rd Anniversary Heather & Mike


Tried a new technique today, creating faux leather. 

I used the simple method of dry embossing and then heat embossed using versaMark and clear embossing powder, which believe it or not has got a leather look about it.

Materials required for this card are:

Card Stock: basic white, evening evergreen, pale papaya 
Dies: scalloped contour, stitched rectangles (2,3,4) wide
Embossing Folders: *stone
Embossing Powder: clear
Ink: evening evergreen, pale papaya fresh freesia, polished pink, versaMark
Stamp Sets: color & contour, *beautiful Bouque

Color & Contour meets Sending Smiles

Love these two set stamps, it makes life so easy. I've used retired dsp, but you could easily make your own marble effect dsp using blending brushes, I've also embossed the dsp for more texture.

Materials required for this card are:

Card Stock: basic white, calypso coral
Designer Series Paper: *butterfly bijou
Dies: deckled rectangles (7), sending, scalloped contours (3)
Embossing Folders: timeworn type 3D
Ink: calypso coral
Stamp Sets: colour & contour, sending smiles
Accessories: bakers twine, brushed brass butterflies

Color & Contour meets Playful Alphabet

I saw a similar card to this one on Pinterest and thought it would be good for my Son-in-Law. 

I die cut the letters, cut the squares, stamped the happy and stuck it all together. The hardest part was getting the spacing right. Will be sorry to see playful alphabet leave us, but it will stay on my shelf.

A clean and simple look today, with 2 step stamping and little die cutting.
The one thing I did do was to cut down the base card to 13.8 (5 7/16) in height to create an even border all round.

All Squared Away meets Color & Contours

Sunday sure comes round fast, the older you get.
This is another card for Sue and believe it or not we're now on week 66, wonder if that's a good omen for the football later today.


I wasn't sure about getting the 'all squared away' bundle but glad I did, it makes quick and easy cards.
Sorry about the background for the photo today, but our daughter and her husband are here painting the living room for us so everything is in the conservatory at the moment and that's the best place to do the photo's for the best light.

Color & Contour meets Hand-Penned

I made this card back in April, as soon as my pre order for the 2021 catalogue arrived, I was overjoyed with with all the lovely stuff and this is what I came up with first.


Quick and simple, just right for beginners who want that little bit extra!

Card Stock: basic white (shimmery white would have been better), pale papaya
Designer Series Paper: hand-penned

Ink: memento tuxedo black
Ribbon: open weave

Color Contour meets Tasteful Textile

Another card for Sue, using all new products from the brand new catalogue.


The background for this card is my new favourite technique using drywall tape to make a unique pattern in the new in colors!
